History of the Canton of Crois Brigte
Crois Brigte was established in the 1990's.  Originally our canton was part of the Canton of Hindscroft. But a local canton was needed for Forsyth County. Thus, the Canton of Crois Brigte was established in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

In 2007, we expanded to include the counties of Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin.

According to Mistress Sine ni Dheaghaidh, the name was chosen because our newly formed canton was standing at a crossroads so to speak. It was also significant because the name of St. Brigit, which means "bright arrow" as well as "Exalted one". She is the Goddess of poetry, prophecy and the arts. She is the Patron of languages and the protector of smith craft. (blacksmiths, goldsmiths, silversmiths etc.)

The Canton of Crois Brigte is no longer standing at those crossroads. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of its early founders, our Canton is growing steadily and doing its share of work within our Organization. And each member is proud of the history of this small yet hard working canton of Crois Brigte.

Part of our device incorporates the cross of St. Brigid.  The original cross was woven with rushes from the river Shannon.
It is tradition in Ireland to hang a St. Brigid's cross over your door on this day to ensure good health throughout the coming year.
